Welcome to HardWork's frequently asked questions section. Periodically we update this section with new questions we receive. These questions and answers come from prospective parents just like you. We hope you find them helpful and informative.
Q: What is HardWork?
A: HardWork is an ultra competitive boys' basketball team. Our roster consists of select players who bring an above average skill set to the team. I can also answer this with "What is HardWork not?" HardWork is NOT a recreational basketball team. We play in competitive leagues and tournaments, many times above our age group. This level of play typically incurs travel from time to time. Besides San Antonio we have played in Austin and Houston so far. Other possibilities for this season are Dallas TX, Memphis TN, and Lafayette LA.
Q: My son was the best player on his previous team. Will he start on your team?
A: Well, that depends. As I stated before, we are a competitive team, and while your son may have been the best player on his previous team he may not be the best player on this team; as a result he may not start. At the same time, your son has the opportunity to take the starting spot of any player on our roster.
Q: Will my son get equal playing time?
A: There is ABSOLUTELY NO GUARANTEE OF PLAYING TIME! This is a competitive team where playing time is earned. Most worthwhile things in life are going to require hard work and a lot of effort. One of my favorite says is: "Hard work beats talent, when talent does not work hard." The moral of this story is, if you want to play, you are going to have to work hard.
Q: Does your team have a sponsor to offset the costs for parents?
A: At this time the short answer to that question is no. We have just been around for a few years and are working on making a name for ourselves. We are currently working on some sponsorship material for the upcoming season, and hope to at least have partial sponsorship to offest some of the costs. Major sponsorship is generally reserved for older teams, such as 16 & 17 year olds.
